A Classic Rock Tripleheader: Three Bands Play for Fun

On Saturday 21, July, three rock tribute bands came together to play just for the sake of playing. Sack Sabbath, Thin Lizzy Experience, and Whitesnake UK came together with the help of freelance promoter Russell Saxton. Saxton arranged the night “to provide a good nights’ entertainment.”

Saxton brought the bands together for no other reason than to play classic rock music for all to enjoy. The proceeds went to covering expenses and Saxton said it was “a thoroughly memorable event.” In order to promote the show across the country, Saxton used Facebook, local papers, and word of mouth. The methods worked wonders as over 400 locals came to the show and some people even traveled hundreds of miles to enjoy the music.

Saxton organizes and promotes events like this as a profession and offers a few key pieces of advice for event planners, whether it’s a birthday party or company event.  Saxton said, “Best advice I can give is to thoroughly plan and very thoroughly advertise. You can have the best event ever but if you don’t let people know,  you are wasting your time.”

The bands performed such favourites as “’Paranoid,’ ‘War Pigs,’ ‘Boys Are Back In Town,’ ‘Rosalie,’ ‘Fool For Your Loving,’ and ‘Here I Go Again,’ amongst many others,” Saxton said. There was no age limit on the show, so music lovers of all ages were able to come and jam out to the classics. Saxton explained that there was even free camping available for those who wanted to keep the party going after the show ended.

All in all, Saxton brought three bands together to just enjoy the night and the music.
